The Biennial Conference for Women 2010

Overview

Leading · Learning · Laughter

Welcome to The 2010 Biennial Conference for Women, the longest-running women's conference in the country. This premier event has progressed for over 25 years because we continually deliver an outstanding 2-day program featuring incredible women.

Through the years we have experienced remarkable changes in the way we live and work. For example, the internet and cells phones were still in development when we launched the first Biennial Conference for Women. Today, most of us wouldn't leave the house without our phone and the access to the internet many of our phones provide. Through the years with all the technological advances, this Conference has prospered because we have remained relevant-focusing on today's women.

We understand the importance of connecting with other women, sharing experiences, discussing different viewpoints, and investing in ourselves. The Biennial Conference for Women has always been about personal and professional growth and better living. This year, we will challenge you to new heights and will hopefully put a smile on your face as well.

2010 Biennial Conference for Women-Leading · Learning · Laughter

A Conference for women of all ages, interests, backgrounds and professions.

Leading
We all lead in our own ways-we nurture our families, we encourage our friends, we stand up to wrongs when necessary. Even if we don't consider ourselves leaders, we exhibit leadership qualities on a daily basis. This conference will help you understand true leadership and how you interact with others.

"Insight, I believe, refers to the depth of understanding that comes by setting experiences, yours and mine, familiar and exotic, new and old, side by side, learning by letting them speak to one another." Mary Catherine Bateson

Learning
Living is a learning experience? We take away something from every personal contact, every discussion, every book or article. Our capacity to learn is exponential. Discover how to recognize learning opportunities and how life-long learning shapes who we are and strive to be.

"Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence." Abigail Adams (1744-1818)

Laughter
Our normal routines can be overwhelming at times. Laughter is one of the essential elements in life that helps us function and keeps us going. Physiologically laughter has been proven to produce endorphins in the brain that actually alter our mood. Maybe we are drawn to laugther because it is usually a shared activity. Have you laughed today? Smiles and laughter are contagious activities that we should exercise regularly.

"Total absence of laughter renders life impossible." Colette (1873-1954)

The Biennial Conference for Women provides a forum for women just like you to share experiences and renew your spirit. Block out your daily dilemmas for a day or two and spend some much-needed time with women just like you. It's not about how to do things better…it's connecting with other professional women, laughing about similar situations and learning a little more about yourself.

Leading. Learning. Laughter. Actively engaging in these three areas can help us be at our best as mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, volunteers and professionals. We know this event will leave a lasting impression on you. Mark your calendars now!

The Conference Format: May 19-20, 2010

This power-packed, two-day event promises to help you enhance your own Leading, Learning, and Laughter. These two days will showcase exceptional speakers specifically designed for the empowerment and motivation of women in all phases and lifestyles. Content is different on each day, so you can attend one or both days. Session topics are all different, but include such topics as: "How Not to Look Old," "A Kick in the Attitude," and "Facing the Challenge of Change." For additional session topics refer to the Speakers & Schedules section.

Attendees can peruse the exhibits throughout the day, speaking with sponsors, businesses and service providers. The Expo will provide information on women's programs, activities and issues, as well as community and health education resources. The bookstore will feature audio and hardcopy books of the speakers and other conference items. This event will sell out, so sign up now! The Conference experience is an amazing way to reflect, be inspired, and learn new life-strategies.

"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
Muriel Strode

The Audience

The Biennial Conference for Women draws women from all over the country, and beyond. Attendees represent virtually all life paths: women who work outside the home; women working at home; those just beginning their careers; and those entering retirement or leaving retirement for new careers or interests. A diverse audience joined together for two days-connecting, sharing, motivating each other through life-lessons and experiences.

Our Charity Partner

This year, the Conference has named the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois as our Gold Charity Partner. Girl Scouts is a leadership development program for girls 5-17 who discover by doing and exploring, develop healthy relationships by connecting with other girls and volunteers, and take action to identify community needs, advocate for themselves and others and solve problems.

The goals of the Conference and Girl Scouts complement each other perfectly-developing self-potential, exploring foundational values, and contributing to the improvement of our communities. We are proud to partner with this outstanding organization of women who recognize the importance of living in the moment.
